Theatre École were proud to present Bugsy Malone at our own "Theatre at Queens" from 9th - 12th June 2010.
Taking you back to New York in the middle of the prohibition era, Bugsy Malone is a tale of gangster life with a unique twist, bullets replaced with 'spluge' and custard pies.
Fat Sam Stacetto has the monopoly on the illegal sarsaparilla trade and everything seems to be running smoothly at the Grand Slam Speakeasy, the hottest night-spot in town. Then along comes Dandy Dan and his gang of hoodlums, armed to the teeth with the new and improved Splurge guns - not a weapon to trifle with! - Enter Bugsy Malone - city slicker and smoothie extraordinaire
The show was a wonderful success. Thanks to all who helped bring it to the stage and to our audience for their continued support.
Theatre École gratefully acknowledge the support of PropsMaster, Ediburgh as suppliers
of splurge guns for our production of Bugsy Malone alongside the continued support of Kirkby Sound.

Theatre École was launched in 2005, with support from the Council and funding from Communities Scotland, to offer a broad range of high quality training and valuable experience in the performing arts, building confidence, self-esteem, communication abilities and life skills. Formed as GYCT (Gorbals Youth & Community Theatre) the organisation was funded initially by Glasgow City Council through the Gorbals Social Inclusion Partnership in 1999.
From 2009, the two organisations have merged and now operate as Theatre École, part of École Enterprise - a social enterprise company.
Theatre École offers education in the performing arts and are committed to providing a supportive and caring learning environment where every person is encouraged to grow and achieve at their own pace. Members can gain introductions to acting, voice projection, singing, dancing and movement, as well as essential team-building work through involvement backstage assisting stage management, set assembly, lighting and sound crew or in front-of-house roles promoting productions, running refreshments bars, or as programme ushers.
Whatever role members take in Theatre École each contribution is valued, and everyone is encouraged to aspire and to fulfil their own personal potential – and have fun doing it!
